About
Tackling Mosquitos Together

Tackling Mosquitoes Together is a pilot behaviour change program to reduce the disease risks and nuisance of mosquitoes in homes and communities in the Northern Rivers.

The wetter, warmer weather that climate change is bringing to the region is increasing the risks and impacts of mosquitoes. A recent mosquito project in Tweed Shire also showed low awareness in the community of these risks.

To make it easy for our communities to take action to reduce these risks, we have developed the Tackling Mosquitoes Together SMS program.

The SMS program includes:

  • prompts and reminders to reduce mozzies in your backyard
  • helpful tips about how to protect yourself, your family and community from mozzies
  • fun videos, images and mozzie mythbusters.

When you join the program, you will also receive an education pack of resources and mozzie repellent.

Tackling Mosquitoes Together is a collaboration between the seven Northern Rivers councils and the North Coast Public Health Unit.

We co-designed the program with local residents to make sure it meets the needs of our local communities.

Thank you to everyone who was involved.

Join the program and start taking action in your backyard today.
